Kealani's doctor appointment...

Well today was a trying day, I guess you could say! I woke up to a baby with dried snot all over her face, a baby who was all congested and having trouble breathing, and goopy eyes. This is her 3rd cold already, though this one is clearly the worst so far. Then we got ready and went to Kealani's 4 month check-up doctor appointment. Doctor continues to be very impressed with her growth and maturity. She did seem so start to slow down a little in growth so she's not off the charts anymore, but she's still a pretty big girl for her age. :) Her head is in the 90th percentile, weight is in the 90th percentile (16 lbs. -- only up 2 pounds from 2 months ago, which is a SHOCK considering how much this child eats!! LOL!), and her height is in the 95th percentile (26 inches, only up 1 inch from 2 months ago). Doc thinks she acts (talking-wise, alert-wise, strength, etc.) more like a 6-8 month old. She's our little over-achiever! haha! :) Anyway, the doctor also said that since she is such a big girl we might try introducing foods now and see how she likes it. So we are gonna try that in the next day or so -- I can't believe that she's big enough to have baby food now -- our baby is growing up so quick! LOL! But while we were there, we discovered that she has an ear infection! Poor girl! We didn't even really have any signs of one so I'm glad we happen to have a doc appt. scheduled to find it! We knew she'd been a bit fussier than normal but figured it was just teething and growing pains, etc. But apparently right now the poor baby is dealing with a really bad cold, teething pain, an ear infection, and today she gots shots on top of it all! Poor baby! Needless to say, today was a bit trying. A real taste of the true demands of parenthood. Other than all she is going through at the moment, she is doing great! We are still so excited to see her do something new every day, say a new sound, discover something she hadn't seen the day before, etc. Most of the time, she's such a happy baby - we are so blessed. And she continues to sleep wonderful at night! She goes to bed between 7-8pm and doesn't wake up until about 6am, at which time she just eats and is back in bed 15 minutes later for another hour or two! She loves her sleep! Yayyy! Well, you're probably tired of reading this by now, so I guess I'll sign off. :) Thanks for reading!

You might try an EarCheck (www.earcheck.com) next time you suspect an infection. I used it on my daughter and it works. It confirmed that she had an infection so I gave her some Tylenol so she could sleep and then went to the doc in the morning and he confirmed it. It is great peace of mind and can help you monitor your kids ears.
