So, I've come to realize I just don't have time to fully commit to this blog like I had intended/used to. With the kids, the business, life, etc. I just barely have time to sleep, ha! So, I apologize in advance, but I'm going to just start posting links to where you can find where our current pictures usually end up right away, only because I do it from my phone (convenience!). Hopefully the links work.

I will update as much as I can think off of the top of my head right now, just so I'm not COMPLETELY lame! ha! Kainoa has been crawling for a few weeks now. He got fitted for his medical helmet yesterday and will start wearing that in about a week. Ugh. He is a happy, growing boy though. He is 10 months (8 months if you go by his "adjusted age" like the dr's do) and is 29 1/2 inches long, and 23 pounds. He is as big as Kealani was at this age! That shocks me because she was always huge and it's amazing to me that he has already caught up to her!). Kealani is beautiful, fun, and super smart as always! =) She has been asking a lot lately to "find her school" so we are looking into the possibility of putting her in preschool. We would have by now it weren't so expensive! Geez! She is 2 1/2 years old (will be 3 in July) and is 40 inches tall and weighs 53 pounds! Yikes, I know! =)

Wow! So sorry we've been M.I.A., as least as far as this blog has been concerned. We've had a crazy several months, of mainly sickness. Ugh. =( The kids have both been sick for pretty much 4 months straight, with the exception of about two weeks. They have both had pneumonia (twice!), stomach flu (which Noah and I also caught), both kids have had double ear infections at different times, regular cold/flu's, Kainoa had R.S.V. (a very dangerous respiratory virus that can actually be fatal to babies), Kealani was diagnosed with severe anemia, Kainoa diagnosed with asthma.... this list goes on! We've actually been keeping the kids out of church childcare, etc. for the past month in hopes that it will give their immune systems a chance to build back up. We cannot WAIT for Spring and Summer so everyone can get healthy again! Oh, Kainoa also is most likely going to have to wear the medical helmet afterall. =( Unfortunately, his head shape did not improve by itself as much as we hoped/projected. So we have an appointment at Seattle Children' Hospital this Friday for that. He also will be getting allergy testing done that day as we suspect that part of him being sick all of the time might be because of allergies (cats??).

Kainoa is now 9 months old and weighs 21 1/2 lbs. and is 29 1/2" long. I looked back at Kealani's baby book and found that he is exactly the same weight and height as Kealani was at this very same age!! That is amazing to me considering she's always been such a big kid and now he's the same, despite the fact that he was a premie!! Kainoa is such a joy. So smiley and happy. He's trying so hard to talk to us all the time and get around and be mobile. Because of his muscle issues, he's still not crawling so that frustrates him a bit at times, but hopefully soon he will get the hang of it. His therapist that he sees weekly still is working hard on that with him. My only complaint regarding Kainoa is that he needs to SLEEP!! It's so bazaar because he has always been my great sleeper! He would take awesome long naps, and then sleep all night -- and did that for 5-6 months. Then as soon as he hit 7 months old, he has not slept since! He wakes up sometimes every half hour, all night long!! If he sleeps for an hour and a half solid, we are jumping for joy!! Hopefully that gets figured out VERY SOON!!

Kealani is going to be 3 in July (where did the time go?!!) and is a very sweet, loving, happy girl. She weighs a big 53 lbs!!! and is almost 40" tall. People still think she's about 4 or so, especially with how smart she is and how well she talks. We hear it all the time. =) She still has some of her sleep issues that she's always had (night terrors, etc.) but we are learning to manage and deal with it all a little better. Especially since she sleeps so much better considering how much we are up with Kainoa! LOL.

Noah's semi-pro football season is under way and he has his first game of the season coming up on April 9th. He's loving being back on the field! Can't wait to watch him play again. =)

I am super busy working at church doing childcare, a lot of the time. I work with the babies, one year old's and two year olds, for the most part. I work there Tuesday mornings,Wednesday nights, a lot of Thursday mornings and/or evenings, Sunday mornings, and various days in between when I'm needed. =) I'm still involved in several of the women's ministries as well, and love it!

The little 2-year-old, Ethan that I've been watching full-time, unfortunately is moving to Georgia so I'm not longer watching him. =( I'm looking into a few possiblilities of possibly taking on other children in place of him. Very sad for him to leave though. =(

Our business is going pretty well and keeps me super busy too!! =)

I'm part of a BUNCO group and each month there is a new "theme". January's theme was "New Year's Resolutions" so you had to dress for people to guess what your resolution is. I couldn't think of any other way to show that I want to lose weight. So, I got a big t-shirt and a black sharpie and here's what I ended up wearing, LOL. Please note that I don't intend to EVER look like that, but it was good for a laugh (and I got the prize for best costume, believe it or not!). **And the boobs turned out a LOT bigger than I had anticipated! LOL.

Kainoa is half way to one year old already... REALLY?!!! Sheesh!! Well I guess it's true because the calendar says so, LOL. He had his six month check-up at the doctor's office today and here were his stats...

18 1/2 pounds
27 inches tall
44 1/2" head

He of course is way bigger than the average six month old, and then you have to think that his "adjusted age" (as all the doctors call it) is really only 4 1/2 months old!!! That's our BIG healthy, growing boy!! =)

Below is a video of Kealani at hula class. Not sure why she chose not to move her legs and hips this time because she normally does, and does it very well! She started going when she was only 1 year old because she wanted to be with her Nana (the teacher) and her cousins (in the class) but she surprised us and picked up on everything just from watching. Now, even though she's barely two, and obviously by far the youngest one, she participates in everything they do! She's kind of become their little mascot. =).

Kainoa is really sick right now with an ear infection and a super horrible cough. They gave us meds and a breathing machine to do at home 4 times a day to hopefully help open his airways so he can feel better. Never seen our little guy so sick. However, I must mention how blessed we are because despite how terrible he must feel, he is still all smiles and super happy when he is not coughing (though there is a huge lack of sleep from the coughing keeping him up!). Love that little man!!

We went up to Children's Hospital on Friday for an appointment for Kainoa to get fitted for his medical helmet to correct his head shape and help his torticollis muscle issues. However, they were so impressed with the progress he's making on his own (through therapy) that they didn't do it and are optimistic that he probably won't even need it!! Yay!!! That was great news because the thought of him having to wear a helmet (looks like a football helmet!) 24/7 (except to take a bath) was not sounding fun at all!! Please pray that he continues improving on his own. =)

GROWING!!!

Both of the kids had doctor appointments last week and I was shocked (though I shouldn't be, by now -- LOL) at how big they are getting! How does this keep happening?! Haha. =) Kealani in nearly 40 inches tall and weighs almost 47 pounds!! Should I mention that she is barely TWO YEARS OLD?!! I had someone the other day tell me that is how much their 7-year-old weighs!! And, as always, they can't get over how Kealani far exceeds all two-year-old (and even older!) developmental expectations. =)

Kainoa weighs nearly 18 pounds now and is 26 inches long!! They go by his "corrected age" meaning they think of him (size-wise and developmentally) as only just a 4 month old, instead of a 5 1/2 month old. They are beyond shocked at him! He is super big for his age and is doing things beyond what they'd expect (starting to learn to sit up, etc.). They continue to tell me that our kids are over-achievers! For the most part, that's a great thing, right!?! =)

So, I guess we are "tooting our own horn" a bit, but what parent doesn't want to do that?! We are such PROUD parents, and sooooo incredibly blessed.

Noah and I are trying to get a new little home craft business started, called "Jennoah's Creations". We are in the process of making a website, etc. but I thought, in the mean time, I'd show you some of the things I've put together recently. It will at least give you an idea of the type of things we are offering (MUCH more to come soon, of course!) -- especially since the holidays are right around the corner. So, Noah and I dressed up and went a halloween party for the first time since in 12 1/2 years of being together! He was a nerd (obviously) and I was supposed to be a "sexy" nerdy school girl! Mine ended up being a little more "riskay" than I planned and was comfortable with!! This was a one-time thing as I will not be doing it again -- just not my style! But, as promised to several people, here are pics.

Kealani looks forward to Saturday morning because she usually gets to go watch cousin, Keikilani, play at her soccer game. It's clear that Kealani too wants to play (and is actually really good at kicking the ball!) as soon as she is old enough to be able to join a team! She even ran out on to the field last weekend because she wanted to play so bad! The coach had to escort her back off the field! Yikes!! LOL.

Kainoa's Torticollis and Plagiocephally / therapy update...

Kainoa has completed three weeks of his theraphy for his torticollis and plagiocephally (a.k.a. "head issue" as we seem to be referring to it as -- and we mean it in the most loving way possible, of course). =)

The therapist is very pleased with his progress (as are we); however, they do believe that he will in fact need the "helmet therapy" to correct it as much as they want. =( He has an appointment at Children's Hospital on Dec. 3rd to be fitted for his helmet, which we are told he will have to wear 24/7 except to take a bath, for many months. I'm having a really hard time with it, as I don't want my little man to have to live in a helmet! But, as someone put it to me the other day, "if this is the worst he has to go through for being 6 weeks early, than he is a pretty lucky lil guy!" I do agree, and have to keep reminding myself of that.

Back to his progress though... he is doing much better at turning his head to the left. Of course he still turns it to the right more often than the left, but the fact that it's not ALWAYS to the right is a huge improvement. Though he cannot turn it to the left as far as he should be able to, he'll get there. He has also improved trumendously on being able to hold his head up -- we only get occasional "head butts" now instead of frequent ones! I have also noticed just in the past two or three days that his left eye is hardly "lazy" at all anymore, which means his muscles on his left side are definitely improving! Oh, and his fists aren't clenched all the time anymore either so he's gaining muscle control the way he should be. Yay!

Keep up the good work lil mister, you are mama's (and daddy's too) little champ, for sure!!!

I forgot to post after Kainoa's 4 month appt. (nearly 2 weeks ago now), but better late than never, right? It's really more for my benefit so I have all this stuff in one convenient place when I need to look back (yes, I have a baby book, but this is so much more fun! LOL). He weighed in at a big 15 lbs. 9 oz! The doctor came in after the nurse wrote it all down for her and said "this is rediculous you guys! you are supposed to have a little premie!" (she was being funny, not mean -- you would have had to have been there, I guess!) She looked at the charts and said he is the size of an average 6 month old. AND he's the same size Kealani was at her 4 month check up -- and please note that she too was a very large baby but she was NOT 6 weeks early!) So he's a growing boy, for sure! He was 25 1/4" tall (which means that since his last appt., two weeks prior, he grew a whole inch taller! wowza!!) and his head is now 16.9" (it was 13 1/4" at birth, I believe). So, you get the idea... it's just like everyone tells us all the time when they see him lately... "so much for having a little premie!" =)

Update on the kiddos

It's been awhile since I posted something besides pictures, and just "journaled" so I think it's time we do some updating. =)

Well, we definitely know how to grow 'em BIG! LOL. Our little "premie" who made his appearance into this world 6 weeks early, has DEFINITELY caught up, and then some. =) He's not even quite 4 months old yet and he is weighing in at 15 lbs. 2 oz! So much for my little tiny 5 lb. 13 oz. little guy! And he's grown over 5 inches too -- he is now 24 1/4 inches tall! Apparently he wanted to be like his sister, and not stay on the growth charts! He weighs almost the exact same as Kealani did at this age (she was off the growth charts by now too) and she wasn't "premie" like he was! Sheesh!! The doctor cannot believe how much he eats, but he is completely proportionate to his height, so that's good. Poor little guy has been sick for about a week. It started out as "croup" (sp?), then got a bad head cold on top of that, and now he just has a really nasty cough that won't go away. =( He also was recently diagnosed with "torticollis" and "plagiocephaly". Torticollis basically means that he has some muscle issues in this head/neck/shoulders region, and his head and neck always pull to the right -- never the left (or even straight forward). As a result of only turning his head to the right for so many months, he developed "plagiocephaly" which basically means severe flattening of the head! He is now seeing a physical therapist for this. We have to do stretches, excercises, massage, etc. with him to hopefully correct it all before it's too late. If it's not corrected in the next two months, they say he might have to wear a customized special helmet 24/7 until it is corrected. =( I SOOOO don't want my baby to have to live with a helmet on, so please pray that it all gets worked out before then. Other than that, he is wonderful! Most of the time he's a very happy, sweet, SMILEY little guy who we just adore and cannot imagine how we ever lived without him!

Kealani also continues to amaze everyone (doctor included) with what a big girl she is! She is barely 2 years old and weighs 44 pounds and upwards of nearly 40 inches tall! When I tell people she's 44 pounds they look at me like she must be extremely obese, but then when they see how incredibly tall she is, they calm down a bit. LOL. People continually ask if she is 4 years old! When I tell them "no, she's just 2 but she's a big girl" they reply with something about how they cannot get over how well she talks in full sentences too. Not sure how we got such a "smart cookie" but we definitely did!! It's sort of frustrating having people think she's so much older than she is because then when she does act out (she still has an occasional attitude problem/tantrum here and there, lol) then people look at me like "you are still allowing her to behave like that?!" Oh well, we know the truth. =) She's finally all healed up and recovered from her surgery -- thank GOD! We went to her follow-up "post op" appointment at Children's Hospital the other day. They did an ultrasound and then we met with the surgeon. He was extremely impressed with how well things went/are going. He said that on a scale of 1-10 she is an 11! Everything internally looks perfect and is now how it is supposed to be. He even said he scar looked so good that she likely won't even have a visible scar in the next couple of years when they see her back again! Yay!
She did recently get diagnosed with "GERD" (Gastroesophageal reflux disease), which we are so glad we at least figured it out. Before we knew what it was, she was randomly throwing up every day or two, but you could tell she wasn't "sick" and it would just come out of the blue. Since she's been on medication for that, she hasn't thrown up since (except the day she didn't get her meds). Hopefully it's something she'll out grow soon. We continue to be amazed by our sweet little princess and how much she grows and learns each day -- she is such a beautiful blessing to us. And it's so cute how much she loves her brother already! She's like another little Mommy to him, always wanting to help. And whenever anyone asks her about her brother and if she likes being a big sister, she always says "That's Kainoa, he's so cute!!" It's the most adorable thing ever! How did we get so blessed?!

Well, that's the updates that I can think of for now. Sorry, it kinda got a little longer than I expected. I could go on all day about my precious babies.... but I will spare you that. =)

My friend Jayme's twin girls had their 1st birthday party this past weekend, and because their birthdays are so close to halloween, it was a costume party! It was really cute! Here are Kealani and Kainoa in their costumes, which they will wear for halloween too. =) Both costumes were great garage sale finds (so my style!) Kainoa's was $4 and Kealani's costume was only 25cents!!!! And believe it or not, Kealani does already know a cheer or two, and she made sure we knew it! =) Adorable!
